Event Attributes


“Event attributes” are nothing but the characteristics of a particular event. For example, when you are setting up an action to capture product add to carts, selecting “event attributes” will help you get all the additional information such as price, quantity, variant and more about the product. Below are a few instances where you can track event attributes from multiple sources such as Cookies, Tag Attributes, Radios, Javascript, URL Query and URL Path.


If the event attribute you want to track is a Cookie, follow the steps below.


1. Login to your CustomerLabs account

2. Launch Action Recorder by clicking the icon 

3. You will be redirected to your website and Action Recorder panel will open up

4. You can move the panel up or down by clicking the icon

5. Click on “Record Action” to start recording 

6. Choose an action of your choice and select “Add Details”

7. Choose Cookie as your desired tracking format. 

8. Select custom as the attribute and type “Session ID” as one attribute that you are tracking. 

9. Enter the cookie name as “session_id” and click on verify.

10. On clicking verify, a small pop-up will be displayed, where you can find Session ID of a user displayed as the sample value.

11. On clicking save, your saved attributes get displayed.

12. Repeat the same process for other event attributes (quantity, shipping. etc.) that you would like to track.

13. Once you’ve finished adding all your event attributes, click on “Next | Post action trigger”

14. Choose the pages that you would like to start tracking for the above-defined action.

15. Click on Save Action.

If the event attribute you want to track is a Tag Attribute, follow the steps below.


1. Login to your CustomerLabs account

2. Launch Action Recorder by clicking the icon 

3. You will be redirected to your website and Action Recorder panel will open up

4. You can move the panel up or down by clicking the icon

5. Click on “Record Action” to start recording 

6. Choose an action of your choice and select “Add Details”

7. Choose tag attributes as your desired tracking format.  

8. Select product image as one attribute that you are tracking and click on the pointing symbol.

9. Choose between the value of an attribute as a class, source, alt or style on selecting your product image. 

10. By clicking save, your saved attribute get displayed.

11. Repeat the same process for other event attributes (quantity, shipping. etc.) that you would like to track.

12. Once you’ve finished adding all your event attributes, click on “Next | Post action trigger”

13. Choose the pages that you would like to start tracking for the above-defined action.

14. Click on Save Action.

If the event attribute you want to track is a Radio button, follow the steps below.

1. Login to your CustomerLabs account

2. Launch Action Recorder by clicking the icon 

3. You will be redirected to your website and Action Recorder panel will open up

4. You can move the panel up or down by clicking the icon

5. Click on “Record Action” to start recording 

6. Choose an action of your choice and select “Add Details”

7. Choose Radio as your desired tracking format. 

8. Select product variant as one attribute that you are tracking and click on the pointing symbol.

9. Choose your product variant. This can be your product size, product color or anything you like. 

10. By clicking save, your saved attribute get displayed.

11. Click on “Save”

12. Repeat the same process for other event attributes (quantity, shipping. etc.) that you would like to track.

13. Once you’ve finished adding all your event attributes, click on “Next | Post action trigger”

14. Choose the pages that you would like to start tracking for the above-defined action.

15. Click on Save Action.

If the event attribute you want to track is a Javascript, follow the steps below.


1. Login to your CustomerLabs account

2. Launch Action Recorder by clicking the icon 

3. You will be redirected to your website and Action Recorder panel will open up

4. You can move the panel up or down by clicking the icon

5. Click on “Record Action” to start recording 

6. Choose an action of your choice and select “Add Details”

7. Choose Javascript as your desired tracking format.

8. Select custom attribute and type “Added to cart at” as one attribute that you are tracking. 

9. Enter the Javascript expression: “(new Date()).toGMTString()” and click on verify. 

10. On clicking verify, small pop-up gets displayed as the sample value. Then click on save.

11. Let’s track the product name as another attribute. On choosing text, select product name as your desired attribute and click on the pointing symbol.

12. Identify and click on product name from the page.

13. By clicking Save, your saved attributes get displayed.

14. Repeat the same process for other event attributes (quantity, shipping. etc.) that you would like to track.

15. Once you’ve finished adding all your event attributes, click on “Next | Post action trigger”

16. Choose the pages that you would like to start tracking for the above-defined action. 

17. Click on Save Action.

If the event attribute you want to track is a URL Query, follow the steps below


1. Login to your CustomerLabs account

2. Launch Action Recorder by clicking the icon 

3. You will be redirected to your website and Action Recorder panel will open up

4. You can move the panel up or down by clicking the icon

5. Click on “Record Action” to start recording 

6. Choose an action of your choice and select “Add Details”

7. Choose URL Query as your desired tracking format. 

8. Select product variant as one attribute that you are tracking. 

9. Choose your product variant. This can be your product size, product color or anything you like. 

10. On choosing variant, product URL gets displayed with the unique variant key. Find query key from URL and paste it in Action Recorder.

11. On clicking verify, small pop-up gets displayed as the sample value. Where you can find your variant value.

12. By clicking save, your saved attributes will get displayed.

13. Repeat the same process for the other event attributes (quantity, shipping. etc.) that you would like to track.

14. Click on Next | Post Action trigger.

15. Choose the pages that you would like to start tracking for the above-defined action. 

17. Click on Save Action.

If the event attribute you want to track is a URL path, follow the steps below.


1. Login to your CustomerLabs account

6. Choose an action of your choice and select “Add Details”

  5. Click on “Record Action” to start recording 
  6. Choose an action of your choice and select “Add Details”
  7. Choose URL Query as your desired tracking format. 

8. Select product variant as one attribute that you are tracking. 

9. Choose your product variant. This can be your product size, product color or anything you like.

If the event attribute you want to track is a URL path, follow the steps below


  1. Login to your CustomerLabs account
  2. Launch Action Recorder by clicking the icon 
  3. You will be redirected to your website and Action Recorder panel will open up
  4. You can move the panel up or down by clicking the icon
  5. Click on “Record Action” to start recording 
  6. Choose an action of your choice and select “Add Details”
  7. Choose URL path as your desired tracking format. 

8. Select product name as one attribute that you are tracking. 

9. Find and choose URL path of your attribute (product name). In this case, the path is in-between 2nd & 3rd “/”.

10. On clicking verify, small pop-up gets displayed. Where you can find your product name displayed as the sample value.

 

 11. On clicking save, your saved attribute will be displayed.

12. Repeat the same process for the other event attributes (quantity, variant. etc.) that you would like to track.

13. Click on “Next | Post Action trigger”

14. Choose the pages that you would like to start tracking for the above-defined action. 

15. Click on Save Action.

16. You are good to go!
